About the free audit

Is the audit really free?

Yes — no credit card, no account, no strings. Enter your website URL and get a full diagnostic scorecard covering local SEO, AI visibility, competitor gaps, and a revenue impact estimate. The audit runs in under 60 seconds.

What does the audit actually measure?

The audit measures four things: your local SEO footprint (Google Business Profile health, citation consistency, technical SEO), your AI visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, the competitor keyword gaps where you are losing share, and the dollar value of your current ranking positions.

How is this different from Ahrefs, Semrush, or GTmetrix?

Generic SEO tools check meta tags, backlinks, and page speed. They are built for ecommerce sites and SaaS dashboards. Digital Whale is built specifically for local businesses — it audits your Google Business Profile, citation consistency, AI visibility across multiple platforms, and the revenue impact of your ranking positions. It is the diagnostic local operators wish those generic tools provided.

Can I run the audit on a competitor?

Yes. The audit runs on any URL. Many of our clients run it on their top three competitors before running it on themselves — knowing the gap is the first step to closing it.

AI search and GEO

What is AI visibility, and why does it matter now?

AI visibility is whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews mention your business when a customer asks a relevant question. AI does not return ten links — it picks one or two and tells the customer what to do. If you are not in that answer, you do not get a consolation page-two ranking. ChatGPT alone handles over 1 billion queries per day, and that share of customer attention is growing every month.

What is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization — the practice of getting your business cited, mentioned, or recommended by AI search tools. SEO ranks your website in a list of links. GEO determines whether AI mentions you at all. Both share a foundation, but they require different optimization signals.

How does AI search decide which businesses to recommend?

AI models draw on five signals: web content they were trained on, live web search results (for tools like Perplexity and ChatGPT with browsing), structured data and schema markup, entity recognition (how well known your business is across credible sources), and review volume and sentiment across multiple platforms.

Will doing GEO hurt my regular SEO?

No. The two share most of the same foundation — clean technical health, quality content, structured data, citations. Doing both is roughly 30% more work than SEO alone for about 2× the visibility. There is no tradeoff.

Working with Digital Whale

What is the difference between the free audit and a paid plan?

The free audit is a diagnostic — it tells you exactly where you stand and what is costing you. Paid plans are execution: we fix the issues, build your local SEO authority, grow your AI visibility, and publish original weekly content. The audit is the starting point every client uses.

How long until I see results?

Most clients see measurable improvement in rankings within 60–90 days. SEO compounds — traffic and lead growth strengthen month over month. By month 4–6, you will see significant, measurable business impact in calls, form fills, and revenue.

Do you write all the content?

Yes. Our team writes original, locally-optimized articles every week — built to rank on Google and get cited by AI search engines. We never recycle templates or publish AI-spam.

Can I cancel early?

Yes. You are not locked in forever. We recommend giving SEO enough time to compound (typically 90 days) before judging the program, but if it is not the right fit, you can cancel anytime. We would rather keep clients through results than through contracts.

Do you offer white-label services for agencies?

Yes. Our Enterprise plan includes white-label options for agencies and consultancies that want to add local SEO + GEO services to their offering without building the team in-house. Contact us to discuss the white-label arrangement.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Local service businesses across the United States — contractors, restaurants, medical practices, law firms, fitness studios, wellness clinics, home services, and multi-location operators. Our methodology applies to any business where customers find you through Google or AI search rather than walking past a storefront.
